Went to Twitter's office today to discuss their developer's conference. They have energetic and creative offices. Lookie.
I love creative spaces and the Twitter space had an open energetic vibe to it. They’re on the 4th floor of a building on Bryant between 4th and 5th. It’s industrial with exposed cement walls and ducts.
When I walked in there was no reception desk or area. But a nice young lady walked up and knew I was new. She nearly instantly found my contact at Twitter.
Lunch was being served when I got there so everyone was piled into the large open eating space to the left. Interestingly, their workspaces are all crammed and they left a ton of space for their eating/meeting spaces. They had an industrial kitchen and served water in cups instead of plastic bottles (yay!). But they also had a guy who comes in for 2 hours at lunch time to clean up after all of them. I *want* one!
They have an old red English phone booth there. I’m sure it’s for their private conversations since there’s absolutely NO privacy.
People here at Duarte think they are too squished because they can’t have private conversations at their desk. At Twitter, you are touching your neighbor’s elbow. They are litterally sitting in open spaces on banquet tables.
